A Value-Added Reseller (VAR) is a business that enhances third-party products or services, typically hardware or software, by adding customized features, integration, consulting, or support before reselling them to end users. This approach creates a more tailored solution that better fits specific customer needs.

Some examples of these enhancements include:

  • Providing additional services to accompany the solution such as installation, training, or ongoing technical support
  • Customizing or configuring software or hardware for niche industry use
  • Bundling multiple products into a comprehensive, integrated system

VARs are commonly used in sectors like information technology, telecommunications, healthcare, and industrial automation. Businesses and customers rely on VARs to reduce complexity, speed up utilization, and gain expert support.

Value-added resellers play a critical role, bridging the gap between original vendors and customers or end-users. Their ability to deliver personalized, ready-to-use solutions helps increase product value, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen long-term client relationships—ultimately driving both vendor and customer success.
